U Ethical (Uniting Ethical Investors Limited) is seeking to appoint two non-executive directors to its board

U Ethical is an investment manager with a difference. We believe in creating a better world by investing with purpose—today and into the future.

Our first funds were established in 1985 and over recent years we have grown steadily to become one of the largest ethical investment managers in Australia with over $1 billion under management. We are an autonomous social enterprise of the Uniting Church of Australia Synod of Victoria and Tasmania with an independent board.

We have developed a reputation for our unwavering commitment to ethics-driven performance. Our ethical authenticity is central to who we are not just what we do. We aim to provide our clients with competitive returns. And as a social enterprise, we contribute the majority of our operating surplus to social justice advocacy and community programs.

We are one of only a few investment businesses in Australia to have been certified as a B Corporation, which verifies that we meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. From institutions to individuals, our clients partner with us because we adopt bold positions on important ethical matters. We don’t shy away from holding companies to account on controversial issues.

It’s what we call investing with purpose.

We are seeking two new non-executive directors—

  1. An individual with experience at a senior level in a major audit firm or experience as a chief financial officer/financial controller/senior accountant at a medium to large organisation, preferably in financial services, although this is not essential.
  2. An individual with experience as a senior executive or non-executive director of a funds management business.

We are particularly interested to hear from anyone within the Uniting Church or with a relationship to the Uniting Church or any of its institutions who meets our requirements.

In the first instance, potential candidates should write to U Ethical’s company secretary, Leeanne Lukaitis, at leeanne.lukaitis@uethical.com providing a current CV. Should potential candidates have any questions, please contact Leeanne via email or on 0411 209 320.
