Welcoming Debbie Yong, senior investment analyst - equities to the team

Debbie joins U Ethical from UniSuper where she was an investment analyst responsible for consumer stocks research, portfolio management and ESG (notably climate risk) reporting and data maintenance.

Debbie joins U Ethical from UniSuper where she was an investment analyst responsible for consumer stocks research, portfolio management and ESG (notably climate risk) reporting and data maintenance. Prior to this, she was tasked with equity and fixed income analysis for JBWere.

She has over 17 years’ experience in the financial industry, five of which as an equity investment analyst where she performed fundamental research on Australian and international equities.

Chief investment officer Jon Fernie commented on the appointment noting that Debbie joins at a time of growth for the fund manager, and as ESG analysis continues to be integrated across all facets of the business.

“Debbie’s strong ESG knowledge (including in climate risk reporting), experience analysing domestic and international stocks across a range of sectors, and demonstrated success assisting with portfolio management make her an excellent addition to the team.

“As part of our process-driven ethical investment approach, understanding the complexities of ESG data is important when offering recommendations to the portfolio manager.

“We believe that ESG integration leads to better risk mitigation and also helps identify investment opportunities when taking longer-term view,” Jon said.
